about
The lyrics provide a very personal view into FLYNN’s world who explains the meaning behind the song, “My Gold is about losing someone that means the world to you, someone as valuable as gold. The song is about a break up that I went through. I could have done more at the time to hold onto the person but I let my work life get in the way and let her slip away, and now I live with the what if's and the regret of not doing more to make it work.
lyrics
[Verse 1]
Said you're wishing me the best
It hit like bullets in my chest, you know
Feeling broken and naive
Could have you but I chose me, oh no
[Pre-Chorus]
Hope you know that I'm here
Waiting on the line when you call
It's got me living in fear
Fear of what the future won't hold
[Chorus]
You're my gold
I was holding onto something
Now I know that I should have given you my all
Torn apart and now we're nothing
I could never have enough
You're my gold
[Verse 2]
Come so far you're out of sight
You went left and I went right
The more I try to hold this down
The more I wanna scream it out
Oh (oh)
[Pre-Chorus]
But you know that I'm here
Waiting on the line for your call
And still I'm living in fear
Fear of what the future won't hold
[Chorus]
You're my gold
I was holding onto something
Now I know that I should have given you my all
Torn apart and now we're nothing
I could never have enough
You're my gold
You're my gold
[Pre-Chorus]
But you know that I'm here
Waiting on the line for your call
Still I'm living in fear
Fear of what the future won't hold
[Chorus]
You're my gold
I was holding onto something
Now I know that I should have given you my all
Torn apart and now we're nothing
I could never have enough
You're my gold
You're my gold
You're my gold
